Patricio Mangubat is a brand, a concept. It is an attempt to replace the current description of the average Filipino as "Juan dela Cruz" or what Benigno derisively call the "Average Filipino Schmoe."
Juan dela Cruz is a Western concept and does not totally describe the average Pinoy. It is an interpretation of the American "Joe", and reflects the continued slavery of the Pinoy to Western paradigms. The use of such name admits that Filipinos continue to hold beliefs not of their own. Juan dela Cruz is a name of a subjugated people.
Patricio Mangubat is different. It means "country fight". It represents the true state of nature of the Filipino as a nation struggling against political repression, economic slavery, social injustices and cultural poverty.
The brand, by itself, represents or tries to advocate a belief. This belief is still in the refining stage since there is still no unified Filipino theoretical world-view, as yet. The brand may symbolize the Pinoy Movement (PM) or People's Movement consisting of perceived shared beliefs existing in the blogosphere.
What is certain is that every Filipino who share the same beliefs, paradigms or assumptions may be Patricios. The one behind PM is just a chronicler, a writer, somewhat PM's Plato.
